“Ranking” higher in ChatGPT

From WP Speed Fix Newsletter

I often refer to many of the tactics we use in SEO and search marketing as “simple, not obvious” and this one is no exception.

We’ve been getting an increasing number of questions from our SEO Audit customers about ranking in ChatGPT so I wanted to share this idea with you as it’s easy to implement and won’t cost you anything.

A Simple Tactic To Boost Exposure In ChatGPT

Even in our own business, ChatGPT has become more important as a marketing channel with something like 25% of our enquiries now being flagged as coming from ChatGPT. So boosting our exposure there is something we’re deeply interested in.

What most people don’t realise is that ChatGPT uses Bing by default for it’s search engine. If you ask it for say the “best 4 and 5 star hotels in Perth” like I did, it’ll use Bing search to bring me back the results.

I’ve talked about Bing before in previous emails and the importance of being indexed by Bing as it powers many other 2nd tier search engines like DuckDuckGo and with the increasing use of ChatGPT this makes it even more important.

SOME SIMPLE ACTION STEPS THAT WILL MOVE THE NEEDLE

So, if ChatGPT is using Bing, it follows that we need to boost exposure in Bing search right? Here’s a few simple action items to get you moving forward:

Setup an account in and your site is indexed

  • Getting de-indexed from Bing is a common problem we see,
Often the problem is caused by simple technical SEO issues. Our can do a quick analysis on your site in 60-90 seconds and surface any obvious issues that could be hurting you here.

  • Claim your physical locations in Bing Places at

  • If you’re an ecommerce business, make sure you’re taking advantage of . Just like Google Shopping, it’s free to get listed and has both paid and free listings.

  • I hope you found this useful, if you have any questions, just hit reply. If you’re interested on doing a deep dive on your SEO, our SEO Audit service is usually the best place to start and if you don’t need the full audit service, our Google Search Console audit service may be a better fit.
